Every spring, Lisbon welcomes one of its most beloved cultural events: the Feira do Livro de Lisboa, or Lisbon Book Fair.
Returning to Parque Eduardo VII for its 96th edition, the 2026 fair will take place from May 27th to June 14th, bringing books, authors, families, publishers and visitors together in one of the city’s most iconic green spaces.

Opening Hours:
Monday to Thursday: Noon (12) to 10pm.
Friday and Holiday eves: Noon (12) to 11pm.
Saturday: 10am to 11pm.
Sunday and public holidays: 10am to 10pm.
Entry is free, making it one of Lisbon’s most accessible annual events.
What to Expect at the Lisbon Book Fair
The fair brings together multiple publishers, bookshops, independent sellers and cultural organisations from across Portugal, as well as other countries.
Visitors can browse through thousands of books, from Portuguese literature and international fiction to children’s books, cookbooks, history, politics, travel writing and more.

The event is not only about buying books. Throughout the fair, visitors can enjoy:
Book launches;
Author signings;
Literary talks and debates;
Children’s activities;
Outdoor reading areas;
Live music on Fridays;
Cinema sessions on Saturdays;
Food stalls and cafés.
Set in the open air, with views over Lisbon and the Tagus River, the fair has a relaxed atmosphere that makes it popular with readers and non-readers alike.
Things to Know Before Visiting Lisbon’s Book Fair
The fair takes place in Parque Eduardo VII, close to Marquês de Pombal and Avenida da Liberdade.
The easiest way to get there is by public transport, especially metro.
The closest stations are Marquês de Pombal and Parque.
Weekends, evenings and discount hours are usually the busiest times, so visitors who prefer a quieter experience may want to go during weekday afternoons.
Comfortable shoes are recommended, as the fair stretches along the park and involves quite a bit of walking.
Families should also check the official map before visiting, as the fair includes food areas, toilets, baby-changing facilities and dedicated programming spaces.
Hora H: The Best Time for Discounts
One of the most popular traditions at the Lisbon Book Fair is Hora H, a special discount period where participating exhibitors offer selected books with discounts of at least 50%.
In 2026, Hora H takes place from Monday to Thursday, during the final hour of the fair, usually from 21:00 to 22:00.
There are a few exceptions to note: Hora H does not take place on public holidays, including 4 June and 10 June, and it is not available during the first week of the fair on 27 and 28 May. On holiday eves, such as 3 and 9 June, Hora H runs from 22:00 to 23:00.
For visitors looking to buy several books, this is one of the best times to visit.
The Lisbon Book Fair: The Iconic Annual Event

The Feira do Livro de Lisboa first took place in 1930 and has become one of the city’s most important cultural traditions.
Nearly a century later, it remains a major part of Lisbon’s annual calendar and a reflection of the capital’s lifestyle. It shows a side of Lisbon that goes beyond tourism.
This is a city where cultural events are part of daily life, where public parks become meeting points, and where residents of all ages gather outdoors to enjoy music, conversation, food and literature.
